Design

The house, the wardrobe, the typeface.

Alongside the writing, there is design work: houses, a wardrobe system, a typeface. It is built the way everything here is built — in the open, in versions, and labelled by how ready it actually is.

Not everything here is ready, and this page will not pretend otherwise. Each project below carries its actual stage, and the concepts at the bottom are labelled as concepts. This is a landing page for work in progress — a place for it to expand into.

Current work

Three projects, three stages.

A house at design-intent stage, a wardrobe system at concept stage, and a typeface with a verified build. Each lives in a public repository, where its real state can be checked rather than taken on faith.

01

In development — design intent

Forever Home

A version-controlled design for a future home: a “whimsical grandma home” — warm, collected, gently eccentric, and designed to be aged in. Requirements, decisions, materials, and a room-by-room model are developed in git, in the open. The documents are design intent, not construction drawings.

02

Concept stage

Fashion

A wardrobe design system: roughly a hundred designed pieces and complete looks, each with a concept and a sourcing package. Built as a system — items, looks, and briefs — rather than a shopping list. Nothing here is in production.

03

Build verified — under review

Softness Mono

A monospace typeface in development, intended as the apparatus face of the Softness ecosystem. It begins as a rename-deep derivative of Ubuntu Sans Mono: glyph outlines unchanged, original credits preserved, and the full build verified end to end. Letterform experiments come only after that baseline holds.

Future studies — concepts only

Ideas with a place to land.

  1. 01A 1970s house — period surface, modern systems underneath.
  2. 02A brutalist house — a concrete shell with a warm interior.

These are one-line concepts. No plans, no models, no dates. They are named here so that if one of them ever becomes a project, it arrives to a page that was already expecting it.

What comes next

This page grows as the work does.

When a project reaches a stage worth showing in more detail, it will get room of its own. Until then, the repositories above are the honest record. Questions about the design work go to the same place as everything else here — Branden, directly.
